Lent - Maudy Thursday
Lent is a season of reflection.  It is a time to take inventory of our lives, in how we practice our faith, and how we live in the world.  The intent of Lent is to bring one closer to God.  Lent is often observed by fasting, or study, or by taking on new responsibilities in God's name.  We enter Lent on Ash Wednesday, this year on February 13, and we leave Lent on Easter morning, the day of resurrection.  Lent is 40 days long, with the last week of Lent known as Holy Week.  Holy Week tells the story of the Passion of Christ in the observances on Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, and Good Friday.  Observing Lent is both personal, and communal.  We worship each Sunday, and we keep up our Lenten practices during the 40 days, when lent ends on Easter Sunday it is a time  release, feasting and fellowship, and thanksgiving to God.
